We entered our baklava recipe into the competition for Brisbane's Best Baklava at the Paniyri Greek Festival in Brisbane… and we won!
Everyone was totally shocked to discover that the winning baklava was made in a Thermomix. The competition was very strict and there were 3 judges.
All of the other entries were made the “traditional” way but the judges said that our baklava was the most traditional. The judges were very surprised to learn that this “traditional baklava” was actually made in a Thermomix.
Watch Elias the Greek and Litsa as they Greek dance before announcing the winning dish…
In this video, the judges are explaining the reasons why our baklava won the competition.
We won a Kitchen Aid as the prize…lol. What are we going to do with that? Just joking, i'm sure we will find some good use for it. A very big thank you to the competition sponsors Chez Nous (a Brisbane Catering Company) for donating the very generous prize.
Our Baklava recipe honours Chrystalla's mother Patricia. She actually made the Baklava for us on the day of the Paniyiri and the converted recipe is featured in the Easter Collection Ebook.
We use the Thermomix to chop the nuts and to make the syrup. You can download the Easter Ebook by clicking the ‘add to cart' button below:
